Grace…will never go out of style

Ahhh, grace.  I love this word!  If you look up the definition of grace in the dictionary, you get a lot of definitions, one of which is grace means being considerate and thoughtful.

When we talk about self-care and what it looks like, the foundation for all self-care should be having grace with ourselves.  The actual act of self-care can and will look different for everyone but is it really self-care if we aren’t giving ourselves grace?

Grace is being gentle with yourself; not forcing anything because that is what you think you’re “supposed” to do.  Grace is listening to your true self; not letting your ego bulldoze over you.  Grace is loving yourself; not insulting yourself or putting yourself down.

Where can you have more grace for yourself?  Could it be changing your thoughts about yourself, or moving your body in a way that feels good, or resting your body that is overworked?  Could it be waking up just a little bit earlier and meditating or journaling your thoughts?  Or could it be forgiving yourself for anything that you get hard on yourself for and simply loving yourself instead?

Just like any other form of self-care, grace takes practice.  Consistent practice.  This holiday season, love yourself enough to give yourself grace.
